Events brings a community's schedule, invitations, and shared context together. Plan a workshop, review, social gathering, or deadline in a calendar, then use its linked article for the agenda and conversation.
An event belongs to a space, subspace, or activity. That home determines who can see and manage it. Public discovery helps people find occasions across communities; a community's own Events page is where its members coordinate the details.
Start With The Calendar
Community Events opens in Month view. Choose the view that fits your question:
Use Today, the previous and next controls, or the date selector to move through the schedule. The activity sidebar narrows the community area, and search filters loaded events by title and keywords.
Selecting an event in a community calendar opens its article beside the schedule. You can read the details without losing your place, or choose Go to Event for the full article. Calendar and recurring events explains time zones, repeated entries, and editing gestures.
Use Month, Week or All events to inspect the schedule in the current space area.
Give The Occasion A Useful Home
The article holds what a date alone cannot explain: why the session matters, who should join, preparation, links, and follow-up notes. Comments and related content keep questions close to the event.
The calendar entry, card, and article describe the same event. A shared title and schedule keep them recognizable as people switch views. Attendance is available alongside the details, so members can read before deciding.
The event article keeps scheduling and attendance beside its agenda and discussion.
A completed event remains useful. Open its article to recover decisions, references, or discussion. One-off events become completed after their end time; recurring series remain active and display further occurrences in the calendar.
See Event articles for content and editing, or Attendance for the three response choices.
Prepare Privately, Then Publish
New events start as drafts visible to their author. Choose New Event, or select a range in your community calendar, to prepare a title, schedule, and article. You can close the editor and return to saved work through your drafts.
Creating events requires Coordinator access and permission to manage events in the destination area. An archived activity cannot receive new events. The author and permitted event managers can edit eligible events after creation.
Publish when the invitation is ready. Members with access to the area can then find it, and events in public areas can also appear in public discovery. Publication does not automatically create a discussion-feed announcement. Share the event link separately when a conversation needs an invitation.
Follow Create and publish an event for the complete journey.
Find Events Worth Joining
The public Events page brings together published occasions from public community areas. Its featured carousel and cards help you browse; Month and Week provide a calendar view of the public collection. These calendars are for discovery, while edits belong in the event's own community.
Events can also appear in an area's About page, Search, and the main feed's Hot Events panel. A joined space can show an upcoming-event indicator beside its icon. Open it for a countdown and Event Details.
These previews are selections, so use the full Events page when you need a broader picture. Discovering events explains which surface to use and how access differs.
Keep Participation Clear
Members can choose Confirmed, Tentative, or Declined. One response is stored per person and event; choosing another replaces it, and choosing the selected response again clears it. These counts help organizers plan, but do not reserve a seat or create a personal calendar appointment.
Published events in subspaces or activities can start a meeting at their scheduled start, inviting the author and members who confirmed or answered tentative. Recurrence in the calendar does not automatically create a meeting for each repeated occurrence.
Use View Later to keep an event in your personal saved list. Other available actions, such as reactions, awards, Expo distribution, and deletion, depend on your permissions. Deleting an event also removes its linked article; it is not a way to mark an occasion complete.
Common Questions
Can I browse without joining a space?
Public event discovery is available across public areas. Responding to attendance requires joining the owning space and access to the event's area. Private events remain limited to people who can access that area.
Does a recurring event have separate articles and guest lists?
No. Repeated entries share one event article and one attendance response per person. Editing the source event changes the series.
Can an event's schedule be corrected after it starts?
Yes, if you can edit the event. Schedule controls follow editing permission; they do not lock solely because the start or end time has passed. Explain a consequential correction in the article so participants understand it.
Why is New Event unavailable?
Check that Events is enabled for the community, you are signed in, the destination is active, and you have both Coordinator access and event-management permission. A public page's creation flow asks you to choose an eligible destination.
