Use this walkthrough to prepare a scheduled community occasion privately, then publish it for members of the right space, subspace, or activity. You will finish with an event card that opens into a detailed event article.

Before You Start

Creating an event requires Coordinator access and either ownership of the space or event-management access in the area where the event belongs. If you can manage events but do not have Coordinator access, Visual Space asks you to unlock the required access instead of creating a draft.

Choose the owning area before you begin. An event created from a space belongs to the whole community, while one created inside a subspace or activity stays with that more focused area. This choice affects where members find the event and who can access it.

You cannot create a new event inside an archived activity. Move to an active activity, its parent subspace, or the space itself when that is the appropriate home.

Start A Private Draft

You can begin from Events when you are already reviewing the area's schedule, or from Docs when you are organizing its shared material:

Start from Events - Open Events in the intended space area, then choose Event in the header.
Start from Docs - Open Docs in that same area, choose New, then select Event.

Visual Space creates the event as a private author draft before opening the editor. It does not appear in the published Events list yet, so you can prepare the invitation without presenting unfinished details to the community.

Check the area in the surrounding navigation before you write. If you started in the wrong space, subspace, or activity, close the editor and remove the misplaced draft from its event menu before beginning again in the correct area.

Build A Useful Event Invitation

The schedule tells members when the occasion happens, but the article should also help them decide whether to attend and how to prepare.

Name the event - Enter a clear title. The title is required, so Create Event will not publish an untitled draft.
Add concise keywords - Use the keywords field for a quick theme such as Workshop or Planning. Keywords can contain up to 30 characters, so keep the fuller explanation in the title and article.
Set the schedule - Choose the start and end dates and times. Make sure the interval reflects the occasion members are being invited to, including the expected finish time.
Write the article - Add the purpose, intended audience, agenda, preparation, links, or follow-up expectations that members need. Rich content turns the event from a date into a useful invitation and preserves its context after it ends.

The event title can contain up to 300 characters, but a shorter, specific title is usually easier to recognize on an event card. Before leaving the editor, check that the title, keywords, schedule, and body tell one consistent story.

Checkpoint: the editor shows a required title, an intentional schedule, and enough article content for a member to understand what will happen. If a title or keyword change reports that it did not save, retry it before publishing or closing the draft.

Pause And Continue Later

You do not have to publish in the same session. Closing the editor leaves the event in your private draft view, with its saved title, keywords, schedule, and article content available for later work.

Close the editor - Leave the draft without choosing Create Event.
Open your drafts - Return to Events in the same owning area and use the draft control in the header. Its counter helps you see when drafts are waiting.
Resume the event - Select the draft event card to reopen the editor, then confirm that your saved details are present before continuing.

Only the current author sees the event in this draft view. Closing it is therefore a pause, not publication.

Publish The Event

Publish only after the invitation and schedule are ready for members who can access the owning area.

Review the destination - Confirm once more that you are working in the intended space, subspace, or activity.
Check the invitation - Read the title and opening content from a member's perspective. Clarify the purpose, preparation, or intended audience if someone could not make a confident attendance decision.
Confirm the timing - Verify both ends of the schedule, especially when the event crosses days or has a specific finish time.
Create the event - Choose Create Event. Visual Space validates the draft and publishes its event card and linked article together.

If publication is blocked, correct the validation shown in the editor. A missing title must be supplied; overlong title or keyword text must be shortened before you try again.

Verify The Published Result

After publication, the event should leave your draft view and appear in the main Events list for the owning area. If it was your only draft, the draft counter also disappears.

Find the published card - Look for the event under the active events in the correct space area. Confirm that its title, keywords, and schedule match the invitation you prepared.
Open the event - Select the card. It should open as an article with the event header, schedule, author, and rich content together.
Read the final page - Check the article body and make sure members have the context they need before responding to attendance.

The published card is the first checkpoint: its identity and schedule should match the invitation you prepared.

Opening the card confirms that the published schedule and full invitation remain connected on the event article.

The result is one published event with two connected views: a compact card for discovery and attendance, and an article for the full invitation and ongoing context. Continue with Find and Follow Events to see the member journey, or Update Event Details and Schedule when plans change.
