Attendance gives members a quick way to share whether they expect to join an event. The three response counts help coordinators estimate likely participation without turning Events into a personal calendar or asking everyone to explain their schedule.
Choose The Response That Fits
Each member can have one current response for an active event:
The active event card shows a count beside each choice. Your own choice is highlighted, so you can distinguish your response from the overall attendance picture.
These answers are useful signals rather than reservations or calendar entries. A confirmed response does not add the event to a personal calendar, and a tentative response does not hold a place. The event's linked article remains the place to read its schedule, purpose, and other details.
The active card highlights your current response beside the shared counts, while compact completed-event cards no longer offer attendance choices.
Keep Your Answer Current
Select a response from the active event card. If your plans change, select a different response. Your previous choice is replaced, the old count decreases, and the new count increases.
To remove your answer without choosing another one, select your current response again. Its highlight disappears and its count decreases. You can then leave the event unanswered or choose a new response later.
An honest update is more useful than an optimistic one. Coordinators can compare confirmed and tentative interest when planning a room, preparing a session, or deciding how much support an event may need. A declined response is useful too because it separates a clear no from someone who has not answered.
When Attendance Is Available
Attendance controls are available on active events. Once an event is completed, its compact card no longer accepts response changes. You can still open the event and revisit its article and discussion.
To respond, you must be signed in, joined to the space, and able to access the space area that contains the event. You do not need permission to create or manage events. If a response cannot be saved, the existing selection and counts stay unchanged; try again after checking your connection and access.
Common Questions
Can I choose both confirmed and tentative?
No. Each member has one current response per event. Choosing another response replaces the previous one.
What happens if I select the highlighted response?
Your response is cleared. The choice is no longer highlighted, and its count decreases.
Are the counts a final guest list?
No. They summarize members' latest responses. Tentative plans can change, and some members may not respond at all.
Can coordinators answer on my behalf?
Attendance is each member's own response. Event-management permission is not required to answer and does not provide a separate attendance response for someone else.
Where can I learn more about an event before answering?
Open the event's article for its schedule and context, or follow Find and follow events to learn how active and completed events are organized. For the broader feature, start with Events.
