View Later gives signed-in users one personal place to keep useful work from across Visual Space and return when the timing is better. It is part of the private side of Profiles: saving an item does not add it to your public profile, move it, edit it, or republish it.
One List For Different Kinds Of Work
Use View Later when something deserves attention but you do not want to interrupt what you are doing now. Supported items use the same save action even though they belong to different parts of Visual Space:
The saved entry is a personal way back to the source, not a copy of its content. The original item stays where its author or team placed it and keeps its current access rules. Saving it does not make a protected item available to anyone else, and View Later cannot preserve access if the source is removed or you later lose permission to open it.
The Save, Revisit, And Remove Cycle
The cycle begins in the supported item's menu. Choose View Later to add it to your list. Once the save succeeds, the same source menu offers Remove View Later, so the current state is visible and reversible without opening the saved list.
Posts can be saved from the main feed or from their own page, and the saved state stays connected to the same published work. Articles, events, goals, and items in Documents follow the same basic pattern. Saving never changes the source item; it only adds it to your personal return list.
To revisit saved work, use Read Later on the right tools slimbar. This opens the View later panel beside the current screen, so you can review the list without first navigating to a dedicated page. Select an entry to return to its owning area.
Saved articles, events, and goals stay together beside the workspace you were already viewing.
When the item no longer needs a reminder, remove it in either place:
The panel follows successful additions and removals while it is open. An already visible document or event menu may occasionally keep its previous label until that source is loaded again; the saved list is the clearest place to confirm the result.

What The Panel Shows
View Later waits to fetch your list until you open the panel. It shows Loading during that first request, then presents each saved entry with a content-type icon, its saved label, and the type of item. Selecting the active Read Later tool again closes the panel.
When nothing is saved, the panel says No items saved for later. and points you back to the View Later action in item menus. There is currently no separate View Later dashboard; the right-side panel is the main place to browse the list.
The label shown in the panel is a lightweight reference to the source and may briefly lag behind a recent rename or title change. Opening the item takes you back to its current source context, where the latest content remains authoritative.
Returning To The Right Place
Opening a saved item gets you back to the feature that owns it, but the precision varies by content type. Posts, articles, events, and goals use their saved space and page context. Documents, files, and folders open Documents in the relevant space rather than highlighting the exact saved node.
This makes View Later useful as a reading and follow-up list, but it is not a replacement for organizing source content. If a document must live in a more useful folder, organize it in Documents; saving it only creates a return path. Share A Saved Item Into Activity Chat
A saved entry with complete page information can also be dragged from the panel onto the message bar in an active Activity Chat. Visual Space adds an article-style link to the composer as a draft.
The drop does not send a message. Review the label and destination, add any explanation the conversation needs, and send only when the draft is ready. Some saved types do not yet have precise type-specific links, so open or check the drafted link before relying on it to lead readers to an exact item.

Who can use View Later?

Does saving an item change or republish it?
No. The item remains in its owning feature with the same content, publication state, and access rules.

Will a saved document reopen at the exact file or folder?
Not currently. A saved document, file, or folder opens its Documents area without guaranteeing that the exact node is highlighted.
Can I use View Later as an archive?
No. It keeps a return path to the original item, not a private copy. A deleted item or a change in your access can make that destination unavailable.
Does dragging an item into Activity Chat share it immediately?
No. The drop adds a link draft to the message composer. You must review and send the message yourself.
