You can share a document in a conversation, save a route back to it, keep your own copy, or help a space highlight published work. Choose the action by what you want to happen to the original.
Discuss A Document In Chat
Drag a document or selected set toward the Documents Drop to chat area. After Chat opens, drop onto its accepted sharing surface. The items enter the composer for review; they are not sent immediately.
Images, videos, and stored files become attachments using their existing material. Other supported documents become links. Add a short explanation and check which items reached the composer before sending: only the items that fit its remaining capacity are accepted.
The source stays in Documents. Readers still need the appropriate access. Follow Share documents in Chat for the complete handoff.
Save A Return Path Or Keep A Copy
View Later saves a route back to the existing item. It does not move, duplicate, or publish the source. Choose Remove View Later when you no longer need that reminder.
View Later creates a personal return path, while Add To Expo is a separate space-curation action.
A saved route is useful when you want the current shared version. It cannot preserve an item that is deleted or bypass access you no longer have.
Copy into My Docs serves a different purpose. Where copying is supported, it creates a separate personal file, folder, or app document. Changes to that copy do not become edits to the community original. Read My Docs before choosing between the two.
Highlight Work In Expo
Expo is a selected showcase. The space owner and members with permission to manage Expo can add eligible published documents; drafts are excluded.
Adding an item to Expo leaves its source in Documents. Removing it from Expo removes the showcase placement without deleting the source. Curation does not make a private-area item unrestricted.
Use the Expo guide for the broader showcase workflow.
Keep Durable Articles In Wiki
Wiki collects eligible published articles into a reading tree. The space owner or a member with Manage Content can choose Add to Wiki from an eligible article's menu. Folders, raw files, drafts, and other app-file types do not qualify.
Wiki follows the article's current Documents area and folder placement. Moving the source or renaming its folders changes where it appears in that tree. Remove from Wiki removes the curation choice while leaving the article published.
Continue with Wiki when building a knowledge collection.
Respond Without Reorganizing
Supported published content can carry emoji reactions across the places where it appears. The counts stay connected to that work; they are not a separate response collection for each view.
When your access permits, add a reaction, remove your own reaction, or inspect who reacted. Use Chat for an explanation or decision that needs more context.
Common Questions
Does dropping into Chat send immediately?
No. Review the composer and send deliberately.
Which action preserves a separate personal version?
Copy into My Docs, when supported. View Later keeps a reference to the existing source.
Does adding an article to Wiki create another copy?
No. Wiki follows the published source and its existing Documents structure.
Can Expo, Wiki, or a message link grant access to a private file?
No. The source's current access rules still apply.
Should I use Move instead?
Use Move when the original belongs in a different library location. Organizing Documents explains its effects on folders and access.
