Visual Space manual, Search, Search

Search gives you one place to discover accessible communities, people, conversations, and shared work across Visual Space. Enter a phrase once, then explore matching spaces, posts and articles, goals, events, Docs, messages, or profiles without first guessing which module owns them.

Search helps you find a community, person, conversation, or piece of work without first remembering where it belongs. Start with a name or a few distinctive words, then open a match in the place where you can read it or continue working.

One Place To Find Your Way

Use Search when you know something about an item but not its location. A phrase such as welcome might lead to an article, an event, a goal, or a message. All brings those kinds of matches together; choosing a category narrows the same query.

Search covers:

•
Public spaces and people.
•
Published articles and other searchable posts.
•
Goals in joined spaces and published events across Visual Space.
•
Files, folders, and native documents found by name or location.
•
Shared messages you can access and direct messages from your current conversations.

An app's own search or filter is useful when you already know the library, board, or catalog you need. Use the main Search page when you want to look more broadly. Space discovery also lives here: the Search entry in the apps menu starts with Spaces selected.

Search Globally Or Stay In One Space

Global Search looks beyond one community. It can help you discover public work or recover something from an accessible space or conversation. Opening Search inside a space instead starts a search limited to that space.

The space bubble inside the query field identifies a local search. Select its clear control to broaden the current query. Search moves to the global page, and the bubble disappears. To start another local search, return to the space and open Search there again.

On a phone, the bubble uses the space avatar without the longer name. The input prompt also identifies the space. Search Scope And Access explains which results belong to each view and what to check when something is missing.

From A Few Words To A Useful Result

Type in the compact query bar. Results update shortly after you stop typing, or you can press Enter to submit immediately. Once the query is active, use the dropdowns beneath it to choose one category, a sort order, and a time range. The query and controls stay available while you scroll.

Best match and All time are useful starting choices when you do not remember an item's date. Try a narrower category when the mixed results give you a better idea of what you need. Selecting another category replaces the previous one; return to All for mixed results.

The query, category, sort order, and time range stay together above the results.

Read more than the title before opening a match. Author and space details distinguish similar articles; goal rows show status; events include dates and attendance context. On wide screens, Results shown counts the loaded matches by category. It describes the current list, not every possible result across Visual Space.

Open, Check, And Return

A result takes you to its article, goal, event, Documents location, conversation, profile, or space. Search finds the route; the destination provides the full content and available actions.

Return to the same search to continue comparing matches. The current app session retains your query, filters, scope, and loaded pages, and gives opened rows a subtle seen treatment. This is temporary navigation help, not a permanent search history. Reloading the app can clear it.

More matches load as you scroll. When Show more appears, you can use it to request another page. After content changes, submit the query again to check for newer matches.

Common Questions

Does Global Search let me read private content?

No. Private areas and conversations still depend on your account's access. Global changes where you look, not your membership or permissions.

Can Search find text inside a document?

Docs results use filenames, document and folder names, and location details. Search does not look inside uploaded files or native document bodies. Try a distinctive word from the title instead.

Why is an event visible from a space I have not joined?

Published events can be discovered across Visual Space. Goals and private conversations have different access rules.

Does a missing result mean the item was deleted?

No. Check the phrase, category, time range, and scope first. Updates can take time to appear, and your current access also affects discovery. If you know the location, open it directly.
