A useful search starts with a few distinctive words and becomes more precise as you recognize the matches. Category, sort, and time controls help you make those adjustments without rebuilding the query.
Choose One Category
Enter a query first; the filter controls become available with an active search. Open the category dropdown, initially All unless your entry point selected another category.
Only one category is selected at a time. Choosing Docs replaces Articles, for example. All restores the mixed view; there is no multi-category selection.
Inside a space, Spaces is absent from the menu. You are already searching that community, so its own discovery row would not help.
Put Promising Matches First
Choose the order that fits what you remember:
These choices refresh the query; they do not just rearrange the few rows you have already loaded. Popular is not a vote tally, and Best match does not promise that the closest title will always be first.
Spaces narrows the query to communities; Best match and All time remain available.
The time dropdown offers All time, Past year, Past month, Past week, and Today. Today means the last 24 hours, not the period since midnight. Start with All time if you are unsure when the item was created or changed.
A Search time range is not an event-calendar filter. To browse upcoming events by their scheduled dates, use Events.
Read The Context In Each Row
Titles lead the list, with details suited to the kind of result. Articles show author, space, excerpt, and sometimes an image. Goals include workflow status. Events can show local dates, times, and attendance counts; opening one does not submit an attendance response.
Document results use their names and location details. Message results show the sender and a short preview; opening one takes you to the matching conversation context. People and space results use avatars and descriptions to help you distinguish similar names.
On wide screens, Results shown summarizes the categories in the loaded list. It grows as more results load. Use it as an overview of what is on hand, not a complete count of everything you could find.
Scan Media Without Losing Documents
All and Docs can show a compact media preview when several file matches are available. Regular document and folder rows remain below it. Show more media switches to a file-only grid, which helps when you recognize an image more easily than its name.
To return to folders and native documents, select Docs again in the category menu. Find Documents And Media follows this workflow through to opening the item.
Keep Exploring
Scroll to load more matches, or use Show more when it appears. If another page fails to load, the earlier results remain available and Show more lets you retry. Opening a result and returning preserves the current search within the app session.
Common Questions
Why are the controls faded before I type?
Search needs a query before you can refine its results. Enter a name or keyword first.
Why did a result disappear when I chose a category?
It may belong to another category. Select All again. For private articles or documents missing from a focused global query, try All or open Search inside the owning space.
Does the result count include content I cannot read?
No. Counts are limited by your access, and some searches show only the accessible matches returned so far. They are not an inventory of hidden content.
What should I do with No results?
Shorten the phrase, select All and All time, then check the space bubble. If you know the item lives in another space, clear that bubble to broaden the query.
