A contributor's position is a signal about meaningful participation within one community context. It can help you find active authors, thoughtful collaborators, and people whose work is receiving appreciation. It is not a global trust score, an exact productivity measurement, or a permanent judgment about someone's value.
That distinction matters because communities create value in different ways. One person may publish useful material, another may support discussions, and another may help meetings or shared work move forward. Rankings draw these forms of participation into a broader picture without claiming that every contribution can be compared perfectly.
Use the list as a starting point for discovery. Open a featured contributor's profile, read the context shown on their card, and explore the public work available to you. A position can point you toward someone worth knowing, but the profile and their contributions provide the fuller story.
Scope Gives Every Position Its Meaning
Rankings belong to the place where the contribution happened. The same person can reasonably appear in different positions when you move between scopes:
A high position in one activity does not become a score for the entire platform. Likewise, a person who is prominent across a whole space may not lead every smaller area. Before interpreting a position, check which space or area you are viewing.
The named space supplies the scope for this contributor preview; the card is context for discovery, not a global score.
Public contributor pages are available only for public scopes whose access can be verified. Rankings for private spaces and private areas remain limited to accepted members, so changing scope can also change which list you are allowed to see.
What Can Shape A Position
The ranking can consider several broad families of eligible contribution rather than relying on one visible counter. Depending on the activity available in the scope, these can include:
Draft or excluded content does not contribute as if it were published community work. A card may also show a short ranking reason when no job title is available. This reason highlights a strong contribution area; it does not reveal every input or provide a complete calculation.
Breadth matters more than repetition alone. Diminishing returns and contribution limits reduce the effect of repeating one easy action, so a short burst cannot keep adding influence at the same rate. This makes room for steady and varied participation while keeping the ranking useful as a discovery aid.
Privacy And Healthy Interpretation
Direct messages and time online do not influence Rankings. Private moderation details are not shown on contributor cards either. The page presents safe profile context, summary statistics, and a concise reason when available, without turning private behavior into public evidence.
Even with these boundaries, no ranking can capture every valuable act. Quiet mentoring, offline preparation, or work that is not represented in an eligible surface may not appear. Avoid using a position by itself to make consequential decisions about trust, access, performance, or responsibility.
Think of Rankings as an invitation to look closer: discover a contributor, review what they have chosen to share, and appreciate the kind of participation that strengthens the current community.
Availability, Freshness, And Empty Results
Top Contributors can appear through the Members area or contributor previews on pages such as About and Expo when the feature is enabled. Public spaces may also expose a contributor page for visitors, while private-community access remains protected.
Rankings are not a live activity counter. Recent work can take time to appear because the page shows the latest prepared ranking for its current scope. Refreshing immediately after an action does not guarantee that a position will change, and a movement in the list may reflect several eligible contribution types rather than the latest action alone.
While the ranking loads, placeholders keep the page stable. If the current scope has no prepared contributors, the page shows No contributors yet. This state does not prove that nobody has contributed; it means contributor data is not available for that scope yet. Try again later, or confirm that you are viewing the intended space or area.

Can one repeated action dominate the list?
Repeated activity can contribute, but diminishing returns and limits reduce how much one contribution type can add. The ranking is designed to recognize a more balanced pattern of participation.
Do private messages affect my position?
No. Direct messages and time online do not influence Rankings.
Why did my recent contribution not change the list?
