Use this guide to send a clear, private concern about a post or loaded article for review. Reporting asks someone with the right space access to examine the content against a selected rule. It does not automatically hide or remove the content.

Before You Start

Make sure you are signed in and looking at the content in its intended space. The report form uses that current space for its local rule choice and review context.

Check the content - Confirm that you opened the post or loaded article you mean to report. A report stays connected to that item and its current space.
Check for the action - For a post, Report appears in the content menu when you are not a maintainer of that space. For a loaded article, continue only when its menu offers Report.
Identify the concern - Decide whether the issue is best explained by a Visual Space rule that applies everywhere or by the current space's own rules.

This walkthrough covers the supported Report action on posts and loaded articles. It does not describe reporting live messages, comments, files, profiles, or private messages.

Open The Report Form

Open the content menu - Use the menu on the post or loaded article that contains the concern.
Choose Report - Select Report to open the form. If the current space is still loading, wait until the rules and note field appear before continuing.

!Other Owner post with its options menu open and Report visible

A non-maintainer finds Report in the published post menu before any report form is opened.

The loaded article menu offers the same pre-action entry without exposing a reason or submission screen.

The form is scoped to the content and space you opened it from. If the space name or content context is not the one you intended, close the form and return to the correct item before reporting.

Choose The Rule That Fits

You must select one rule before the form enables the final Report button. Selecting a rule also shows its name and description, so read that description before submitting.

Choose the current-space rule - Select the option named Breaks [space name] rules when the concern is about the local expectations of that community.
Choose a platform rule - Select a Visual Space rule when the concern involves a platform-wide standard such as safety, harassment, privacy, copyright, unlawful content, impersonation, or spam.
Review the rules if unsure - Follow the Platform rules or [space name] rules link in the form, read the applicable Rules page, then return to the content and reopen Report if needed.

Choose the closest rule based on the content you can observe. You do not need to prove the case or predict what decision a reviewer will make.

Add A Useful Note

The User Note (optional) field can point reviewers to context that the selected rule does not explain on its own. It is useful when a specific phrase, surrounding discussion, or local expectation makes the concern clearer.

Keep it factual - Identify the relevant part of the content and briefly explain how it may conflict with the selected rule.
Leave out assumptions - Avoid guessing at the author's motives or adding unrelated personal information.
Skip it when unnecessary - A note is optional. Once a rule is selected, you can submit without one.

Your note belongs to the private review context. Write it for the people responsible for assessing the concern, not as a public reply to the author or the rest of the space.

Submit And Check The Feedback

Select Report - Use the form's Report button after you have checked the rule and optional note. The form closes while Visual Space sends the request.
Watch the loader - A page loader indicates that the submission is still in progress. Wait for the result instead of assuming the closed form means the report succeeded.
Confirm success - Look for the confirmation Report submitted. This means the concern was accepted for review, not that the content was removed or that a particular outcome was chosen.
Handle an error - If Visual Space shows an error instead, the form is already closed. Return to the content, reopen Report, and submit again when you are ready; recheck the selected rule and note because the closed form does not provide an in-place retry.

What Happens After Submission

Ordinary members do not see a public marker showing who reported the content. Other members can still report the same item if they independently encounter a concern. You may also continue to see the content while the report is waiting for a decision.

Posts have the complete verified journey from member submission through in-context space review and a recorded outcome. A reviewer can leave the post in place after review, remove it, or treat it as spam. Report volume alone does not decide that outcome.

Loaded articles can be submitted from their menu when Report is available, but do not assume an article case will appear in the same moderation queue or have the same visible follow-up as a post. The success confirmation only establishes that the report was submitted.
