Awards and Medals mark different moments. Awards are quick item-level appreciation. Medals are rare lasting recognition of a person, backed by an issuing space and preserved in a certificate. For the wider recognition model, read Profile Recognition.
Before You Begin
To view a profile Medal, you need to be signed in and open a member's public profile. The visible collection follows the current space, so the same member can have a different showcase when you reach their profile from another space.
Giving a Medal has a few additional requirements:
•
You must be viewing another member's profile. The Medal action is not offered on your own profile.
•
You must own at least one joined space or have its Give medals permission.
•
The issuing space must have at least one of its five shared Medals remaining for the current UTC month.
The five-Medal allowance belongs to the whole space. Its owner and every authorized member draw from the same total; it is not a personal balance or five Medals per giver.
View A Profile Medal
•
Open the member's profile - Reach the profile from the space whose recognition you want to see. Look below the profile details for Earned medals.
•
Scan the showcase - Each tile identifies a Medal type, its issuing space, and when it was earned. The profile shows up to six types from the current space context.
The profile showcase connects the existing Medal to the member, its issuing space, and when it was earned.
•
Open a certificate - Select a Medal tile to read its certificate. Check the recipient, Medal subject, issuing-space context, date, and saved recognition reason. Older certificates may show Recognition reason unavailable when no reason is available.
The certificate preserves the recipient, issuing space, Medal subject, date, and available recognition text.
•
Explore the full gallery - Select View all when you want the complete space-scoped collection available from that profile, then select any tile to open its certificate.
The showcase keeps the newest certificate for each Medal type issued by the current space. If the member received the same type more than once, the profile does not repeat its artwork; their complete history remains in My medals.
If Earned medals is absent, confirm that you are signed in and viewing the profile from the intended space. An empty showcase does not prove that the member has never received a Medal in another space.
Choose The Issuing Space And Medal
•
Start from the other member's profile - Select the Medal action beside their avatar. The Give medal window first finds joined spaces where you are authorized to give recognition.
•
Confirm the recipient - Check the member shown after Give medal to. Close the window if it is not the person you intended to recognize.
•
Choose the issuing space - Open the space picker after from when more than one option is available. Select the community whose work, values, or shared experience gives this recognition its meaning.
•
Check the allowance - Read Monthly medals remaining before continuing. The current space is preferred when it is eligible, each option shows its remaining count, and a space at 0 stays visible but cannot be selected.
•
Select the Medal - Choose the subject that best represents the contribution. The selected tile is highlighted.
•
Open the preview - Select Preview medal. This becomes available only after you choose a Medal and the selected space has allowance remaining.
The issuing space is part of the saved recognition, not merely a source of allowance. It appears on the certificate and determines which profile showcase can present the Medal later, so choose it for meaning as well as availability.
Review The Certificate Carefully
The certificate is your final checkpoint. Giving the Medal saves a durable recognition record, and there is no current edit, revoke, refund, transfer, or personal removal action afterward.
•
Write the recognition reason - In Write why you are giving this medal, explain the contribution or impact you want the recipient to remember. The message is required, is saved with the certificate, and can contain up to 280 characters.
•
Check the recipient - Read the presented-to name and the To detail. If either identifies the wrong person, select Cancel and reopen the Medal action from the correct profile.
•
Verify the issuing context - Confirm the space name and identity at the top of the certificate. This is the community that stands behind the recognition and whose allowance will be reduced.
•
Review the recognition itself - Check the Medal artwork, the subject under For, your saved reason, and the On date value. Make sure the Medal and message describe the same contribution.
•
Confirm the giver - Review Given by so the finished certificate accurately expresses who is presenting the recognition.
•
Make the lasting choice - Select Give medal only when the recipient, issuing space, Medal, date, giver, and message are all correct.
Do not treat the preview as a draft that can be repaired later. If any detail is wrong, cancel and begin again before submitting.
Confirm That The Medal Was Given
•
Wait for acceptance - While Visual Space saves the recognition, the action reads Giving medal…. Keep the certificate open and avoid submitting it again.
•
Look for Medal given - This confirmation appears only after the Medal has been accepted and the issuing space's remaining allowance has been reduced.
•
Check the summary - Verify that the confirmation names the chosen Medal, recipient, issuing space, and giver, then select Done.
The giver's confirmation is the immediate success check. The recipient's already-open profile or account page does not update live, so ask them to reload the profile or revisit My medals if the new Medal is not visible yet.
Review The Lasting History
Open Account Settings and choose My medals when you want to revisit recognition across all your spaces.
•
Received keeps the Medals given to you, including repeated Medal types and their saved reasons.
•
Gifted keeps the Medals you gave, including the recipient, issuing-space reference, reason, and date.
•
Medals available combines remaining allowances from joined spaces where you may give Medals. It is an overview of shared space balances, not a reserved personal stockpile.
The profile showcase and My medals serve different purposes: the profile presents recognition from the current space, while the account history keeps every received and gifted event across spaces.
If Something Stops You
•
No eligible spaces appear - If the window says You do not have permission to give medals in any of your joined spaces., you are not currently authorized through a joined space. You need a joined space where you are the owner or have the Give medals permission before you can continue.
•
A space is disabled - A space showing 0 has used all five shared Medals for the current UTC month. Choose another meaningful eligible space or wait for that allowance to renew in the next UTC month.
•
The Medal tiles are unavailable - Check the selected space's Monthly medals remaining value. Another authorized member may have used the last Medal since the picker loaded; reopen the action to retrieve the current allowance.
•
The recipient does not load - Close the message This member could not be loaded., return to the intended profile, and try again after the profile is available.
•
The certificate says Message is missing - Add a non-empty recognition reason within the 280-character limit, then review the certificate again.
•
Giving fails - A failed request does not open Medal given. The certificate remains available so you can read the reported problem, recheck the shared allowance, and try again only when the details are still correct.
•
The recipient cannot see the Medal - Have them reload the relevant profile or reopen My medals. Newly given Medals appear when their profile or account recognition data is loaded again.
Completed Result
You have finished when Medal given confirms the intended recipient, Medal, issuing space, and giver. The certificate is now part of the recipient's received history and your gifted history, and one place has been used from the issuing space's shared monthly allowance.
