Visual Space manual, Notifications, Review And Open Notifications

Use this guide when you want to catch up on important activity and return to the work behind each notice. You will open the global Notification Center, identify what arrived since your last check, and confirm that the rows you choose lead to the expected destination.

Before You Open Notifications

You must be signed in. A notification can lead only to content and areas you are currently allowed to access; the row itself does not grant access.

The right-side tools bar does not show an active unread counter today. A missing number is not proof that you have no new notifications, so open the panel whenever you want a current review. The center is in-app only and should not be treated as an email, device-push, sound, or meeting-reminder service.

Catch Up While The New Rows Are Highlighted

Open Notifications - Choose Notifications in the right-side tools bar. Visual Space loads the global list for your account.

Notice the temporary highlight - Rows that were unread when the list arrived keep a subtle highlight briefly. Use that emphasis to recognize what was new.

Scan from the top - Rows appear newest first. Read the title, sender or feature symbol, type badge, and date before deciding where to go. Dates within the first week use a short relative form; older rows use a date such as 24 Jul 2026.

Review the highlighted set together - Opening the panel acknowledges all unread global notifications for your account after the list loads. You do not mark rows one by one, and choosing a row is for navigation rather than read control.

The acknowledgement can finish while the highlight is still visible. The highlight is your catch-up cue, not a saved unread state, and it fades without requiring an action.

Scan the newest rows by their type, title, supporting identity, and date before deciding what matters.

If a grouped comment or reaction has received newer activity, its row moves back to the top. The number in a line such as 3 new comments or 2 new reactions describes the current unseen round, not every comment or reaction the item has ever received. Once you have checked the panel, later engagement starts a fresh round.

Choose A Row And Check Its Destination

Select the notification that best matches the work you want to review. Use the row title and its space or target name to predict where it should open, then verify that the destination matches:

Open an article or post - Choose a notification for an article, post, comment, article reaction, or article Award. Visual Space opens the related article so you can read the item and, when applicable, its conversation or recognition.

Return to Chat - Choose a reaction to one of your Chat messages or an Award given in Chat. The related Chat topic opens, giving you the conversation around the affected message. Ordinary new Chat messages keep their own unread experience and do not appear here as global rows.

Enter the named area - Choose a new subspace or activity row to open that area in its Posts context. A post row names its owning space when that context is available, then opens the related article.

Check a new role - Choose a role-assignment row to open the Posts feed for the space where you received the role. The row may name both the role and the space, helping you confirm that you arrived in the correct place.

Read updated terms - Choose Terms of Service updated from VS Team. Visual Space opens the hosted Terms of Service page, where you can review the current policy.

Read a Visual Space update - Choose a notice from VS Team. The referenced article opens in a focused modal over your current screen, so closing it returns you to the context beneath it.

After the destination opens, compare its title, space, subspace, activity, Chat topic, or policy page with the notification you selected. For a comment, reaction, or Award, also check that the displayed item is the one named by the row. This quick confirmation matters when similarly named work exists in several spaces.

Return to Notifications to continue down the newest-first list. Reopening the panel requests the current list again, which is useful because grouped comment and reaction updates may not refresh while the panel stays open.

Handle An Empty Or Interrupted Review

If the panel finishes loading and shows No notifications, there is nothing in your global notification list to review. This is a normal empty state; separate Chat, Direct Message, space, and activity indicators can still have updates because they do not share the Notification Center's read state.

If Visual Space reports Failed to load notifications, leave your current work in place and open Notifications again later to request a fresh list. Do not interpret a failed load or the absent tools-bar counter as confirmation that you are caught up.

A historical row can remain visible after its content has moved, been removed, or lost the route details needed to open it. When that happens, selecting the row leaves your current location unchanged. Check that you still have access, then visit the named space, subspace, activity, or Chat directly if you recognize it. The notification cannot restore deleted content, missing route context, or permissions you no longer have.

Finish Your Catch-Up

You are caught up with the loaded global list once you have reviewed the highlighted rows and opened the destinations that matter. Later comments or reactions can begin a new grouped round, and other supported updates can add new rows, so repeat the review when you next want a current cross-product view.
