Awards turn a quick thank-you into illustrated, visible recognition. Each Award carries a style, a quantity, and the identity of the person who gave it, so appreciation stays connected to the contribution that inspired it.
Unlike a reaction, an Award uses part of your spendable balance. That makes it useful when a post, idea, message, or live contribution deserves a stronger signal. Awards are designed for everyday appreciation; Medals are the rarer, lasting form of recognition.
Where Awards Work
The same Award picker appears across Visual Space, but the result follows the surface where you give it:
These differences matter when choosing where to give recognition. An Award on durable work remains a signal on that item; a meeting Award celebrates a person in a live moment; and a whiteboard Award also becomes a visual object collaborators can encounter on the board.
Who Can Give And See Awards
Giving an Award requires a signed-in account, access to the relevant space area, and either space ownership or Add awards permission. Having Awards available in your balance does not grant access to content or override a space's permissions.
Viewing follows the surrounding item. When someone can see an awarded post, article, goal, event, or public message, they can also see its existing Award counts even if they cannot give a new one. Meeting Awards are narrower because both people must be present in the same active activity meeting when the Award is sent.
If the Award action is missing, first check whether you can access the item, whether the surface supports Awards, and whether your role can add them there. In Direct Messages and Direct Message calls, the action is intentionally unavailable.
Choose A Style And Quantity
Opening Give Award starts a two-part choice. First, select the illustrated style that best fits what you want to recognize. Visual Space then shows that artwork in a quantity view rather than sending it immediately.
The quantity begins at one. A slider lets you make the signal stronger, up to the number of Awards currently available in your balance. The view keeps the artwork, selected quantity, available total, and Confirm action together so you can review the choice before spending anything. Canceling returns to the artwork picker without sending.
The picker keeps style, quantity, available balance, and untouched confirmation together before an Award is sent.
This deliberate confirmation is important because Awards are not reaction toggles. Once an Award is sent, there is no undo or revoke action in the current interface.
What Other People See
Awarded items show totals grouped by Award style. Opening those Awards reveals the people who contributed each style, preserving attribution instead of reducing several gifts to an anonymous number. When several people choose the same artwork, their quantities contribute to its shared count.
The visible presentation adapts to its host. Public chat updates the message's Award display, active activity meetings show a temporary on-stage celebration, and whiteboards keep a card on the canvas. On supported content, the Award remains attached when people navigate away and return.
Understand Your Balance
Your available count combines Awards that can enter your account in different ways:
You do not need to choose which kind to spend. Visual Space uses eligible monthly Awards before starter and purchased Awards, helping preserve the lasting part of your balance. Awards you already sent stay attached to their targets even if your Abo changes or ends.
When the available count reaches zero, artwork choices in the picker are disabled and the picker points toward Premium. For current pack sizes, prices, and the purchase journey, see Award top-ups.
Review Awards In Your Account
Open My awards in Account Settings to see the total you can still spend. A profile-panel counter also provides a shortcut while the balance is above zero; the Account Settings page remains available when the balance is empty. Use Buy more when you want to open the Premium purchase choices.
The history below the balance separates two useful views:
The tab counts represent Award quantities, not the number of rows. This is an account summary rather than a send-by-send receipt list.
There is also an important boundary: Received history covers supported authored posts, articles, goals, events, and public space-chat messages. Awards received as a meeting participant or placed on a whiteboard do not currently appear in that Received view. The live celebration or board card is therefore the relevant visible result for those hosts.
Common Questions
Are Awards the same as emoji reactions?
No. Reactions are lightweight acknowledgements that can be toggled on or off. Awards use a spendable balance, support quantities, and do not currently offer an undo action.
Can I give an Award in a Direct Message?
No. Awards are available in public space chat, not Direct Messages. Direct Message conversations still support emoji reactions.
Why can I see Awards but not add one?
Seeing an Award follows visibility of the surrounding content. Giving one also requires sign-in, access to the area, an available balance, and space ownership or Add awards permission.
Can I send several of the same Award at once?
Yes. After selecting the artwork, choose a quantity up to your available balance and confirm it.
Do Awards disappear if my Abo ends?
Awards already given stay attached to their target. Purchased and unused starter Awards remain available until spent, while the monthly allowance follows the active Contributor or Coordinator Abo.
Why is a meeting or whiteboard Award missing from Received history?
The current Received view covers supported authored content and public space chat. It does not include Awards received in meetings or on whiteboards.
