Visual Space manual, Meetings, Keep Working During A Meeting

Use this walkthrough when you want to stay in a meeting while reading, editing, or moving elsewhere in Visual Space. You will open the full stage once, keep a useful feed nearby in picture-in-picture, and return to the stage without starting or joining the call again. **Closing the stage and leaving the meeting are different actions.** The stage close control returns you to the workspace while the call continues. The red `Leave meeting` control disconnects you, removes the stage or picture-in-pi

Stay in a call while reading or editing elsewhere in Visual Space. Choose a useful feed, close the full stage, and move the picture-in-picture preview out of your way.

Close the stage to keep the call; use Leave meeting to disconnect. The same distinction applies whether you are watching a camera, a shared screen, or a live app.

Choose What To Follow

Open the meeting stage - Join the room and view the full stage at least once. Picture-in-picture becomes available after this visit.

Select a feed - Choose the participant, share, or live app you want to keep nearby. Stage or Focus gives you a clear view of the selected source.

Check your media - Confirm whether your microphone, camera, and screen share are on. Closing the stage keeps those states; it does not mute you.

Return To Your Work

•
Close the stage - Use its close control, leaving the red Leave meeting control alone.
•
Find the preview - The meeting appears in a small overlay while its activity chat or direct-message conversation is visible underneath.
•
Navigate to your work - Open the activity, document, or page you need within Visual Space. The same call continues beside it.


The expanded preview confirms that the call is still active while the workspace is available again.

If you are sharing an entire display, other participants can still see what appears on that display. Stop sharing before opening work you do not want to present.

Move Or Collapse The Preview

Drag the preview away from its media controls and release it near a useful corner. It snaps into place and remains within the workspace.

Make more room - Drag the preview partly beyond the left or right side to collapse it into an edge tag.
•
Reposition the tag - Drag it vertically along that side when it covers something useful.
•
Restore the card - Select the edge tag once. This expands the preview; it does not yet open the full stage.


The edge tag means the call is still nearby; select it once to restore the expanded preview.

Collapsing the preview leaves the call and any active share running.

Use Controls Or Reopen The Stage

The expanded preview provides microphone, camera, screen-share, and hang-up controls. Use them for quick media changes. Reopen the stage for device choices, invitations, reactions, raised hands, or layout changes.

Open the stage - Select the expanded preview away from its controls. If it is collapsed, restore the card first.
•
Check the selected feed - The room can restore your previous feed and layout. If that source has ended, select another available feed.
•
Continue the same call - Reopening returns to the meeting's activity chat or direct-message conversation. It does not join a second time.

Repeat this cycle whenever the balance between the call and your other work changes.

Finish Or Recover

Use Leave meeting from the stage or preview when finished. The preview disappears and your participant presence clears. Other participants can continue without you.

If the preview is missing, look for its edge tag first. If there is none, open the room's Voice entry, confirm you are connected, select a feed, and close the stage again. A dropped connection or joining a replacement meeting can also remove the old preview.
