Use this guide to review the people you blocked from Direct Messages and remove a block when you are ready. The list belongs to your signed-in account and is separate from notification preferences.

Use this guide to review the people you blocked from Direct Messages and remove a block when you are ready. The list belongs to your signed-in account and is separate from notification preferences.

Before You Begin

You must be signed in, and the person must have been blocked from a one-to-one conversation in Direct Messages. Blocking happens in Direct Messages; Account Settings only lets you review the list and unblock someone.

Unblocking removes this particular direct-message restriction between you and that person. It does not send them a message, guarantee that you can contact each other, restore conversation history, or change access anywhere outside Direct Messages. Other messaging eligibility and conversation-participation rules still apply.

Review The Blocked Users List

Open Account Settings - Go to your private account settings area and choose Blocked users.
Wait for the list - While Visual Space retrieves the people attached to your account, the page shows Loading blocked users....
Read the result - If you have no blocked people, the page shows You have not blocked any users. Otherwise, each row shows an avatar, display name, handle, and an Unblock action.

The empty message is meaningful only after loading finishes without an error; no personal identity needs to be displayed.

Some identities may no longer have complete profile details. In that case, a row can show Unknown user or Profile unavailable. This fallback does not change what the Unblock action does for that row.

Unblock And Confirm The Change

Check the identity - Compare the displayed name and handle before changing the safety list. Use the avatar as supporting context, especially when people have similar names.
Choose Unblock - Select Unblock on the intended row. The person disappears from the visible list immediately.
Verify the saved result - Leave Blocked users and open it again, or reload the page. After loading finishes, confirm that the person is still absent. If they were the last blocked person, the empty message should appear instead.

The fresh load is the meaningful success check. It confirms that the removal was saved beyond the immediate screen update.

If The List Or Save Fails

When Visual Space cannot save the unblock, it restores the previous list and shows an error alert. If the person reappears, treat the unblock as unsuccessful and try again after your connection is available.

An error can also occur while the page is loading. If an alert appears while the page looks empty, do not assume that the empty state confirms there are no blocked people; reopen or reload the page and wait for a successful result.

Completed Result

The task is complete when the person remains absent after you reopen or reload Blocked users. Their Direct Message block is no longer the restriction preventing exchange, while notification choices and access elsewhere remain unchanged.

For the broader settings boundary, see Account Settings. Profiles explains how private account tools differ from public identity, and Direct Messages covers conversation access, eligibility, and blocking in context.
