Meeting live apps put accessible documents and collaborative work on the stage of an activity meeting. Participants can select the app like a camera or screen share, while using the controls that the app provides.
The document keeps its own access and saving rules. Joining the meeting does not make a viewer an editor, publish a draft, or turn unsaved changes into saved work.
Choose The Work For The Conversation
Open Live Apps in an activity meeting. Choose an app family, then browse compatible existing work or use the available New action.
Choose the app family before selecting work. App availability and access still apply to the entries shown here.
Useful choices include:
Frames is marked Coming Soon in the app catalog. Do not plan a meeting around an unfinished app merely because a tile appears in the meeting picker.
The meeting launcher starts from the activity's context. Existing work must be accessible to the person opening it, and other participants still need the appropriate access to the document itself. Creating a draft may require an app entitlement or suitable platform plan; follow the specific access message rather than assuming all meeting participants can create every type.
Put An App On Your Stage
After a successful open or creation, the app becomes a meeting feed. Starting it from Grid selects Stage so there is room for its workspace. Each participant chooses whether to select that feed, keep Grid, or focus on something else.
The app can supply its title and tools around the meeting stage. These controls change when you choose a different feed. Use the owning app's guide for editing, collaboration, and saving; the meeting frame does not replace those rules.
Several app types can remain active together. The launcher marks active types, and choosing one returns to its existing feed. This is useful when moving between a board, a poll, and the discussion without reopening each item from scratch.
Changing Your View Or Ending Shared Work
There are three different outcomes to recognize:
A participant leaving does not automatically close the live apps for everyone still present. When the meeting finishes, its remaining live-app feeds end. Before closing a workspace, check its save state and keep the document link or location for work after the call.
Common Questions
Why is Live Apps missing from my call?
Meeting live apps are available in activity rooms, not direct-message calls. Use screen sharing to present work in a direct-message meeting.
Does selecting an app force everyone to watch it?
No. The feed becomes available to the room, but feed selection and layout are personal.
Can I continue after the meeting?
Yes, when the document is saved and your account retains access. Reopen it through its owning app or Documents. Ending the meeting feed does not delete it.
Why can someone see a feed but not edit its content?
The app's document permissions and entitlements still apply. Check the sharing and access settings in the owning app.
Continue With The Right Guide
Collaborate with live apps covers opening work, checking another participant's access, and closing the feed. For the work itself, see Canvas, Whiteboards, or Retrospectives.
