Visual Space manual, Spaces, Ask And Answer A Question

This walkthrough takes one question from a private article draft into the Q&A feed, then follows a contributor through answering, voting, and adding a direct comment. Use it when an open response and community ranking will be more useful than fixed poll choices.

This walkthrough takes one question from a private article draft into the Q&A feed, then follows a contributor through answering, voting, and adding a direct comment. Use it when an open response and community ranking will be more useful than fixed poll choices.

Prepare the Question and Destination

Q&A uses an article as the question. Before creating it, decide what readers need to understand and where the conversation belongs.

Choose the audience - Pick a space, subspace, or activity whose members should see and answer the question. Protected areas remain protected in Q&A.
Check author access - You must be signed in, joined to the space, able to access the destination, and allowed to create posts there.
Write for useful answers - Prepare a specific title and enough context for readers to understand the problem, constraints, and expected kind of response.
Choose Q&A instead of Poll - Use Q&A for open-ended, rich-text answers that readers can rank. Use Polls when everyone should choose from a fixed set of options.

Start the Q&A Draft

You can select Q&A before the draft opens or enable it from an article draft's media and type selector.

Start from the main feed - Select Publish a post or article. In Choose your space, select Q&A alongside Article and Poll, then select an eligible joined space. Visual Space opens a private, text-backed article draft with Q&A enabled.
Start inside a space area - Use the usual create control to open an article draft in that destination, then find its media and type selector.
Choose Q&A in the draft - In the article's media and type selector, choose Q&A. The active introduction changes to Text when another format was selected.
Confirm the destination - Check the owning space area before writing. It controls discovery, visibility, and contribution access after publication.

A published question keeps its Q&A type visible and locked beneath the article introduction.

Write and Publish the Question

The article itself carries the question, so its feed introduction and full reading page should work together.

State the question in the title - Replace Enter Title with wording that identifies the problem or decision clearly.
Write the text introduction - Give feed readers enough context to recognize the question and decide whether they can help.
Add a body when context matters - Use Expand To Article when examples, reproduction steps, evidence, links, or a longer explanation will improve the answers.
Let edits save - Wait for active save feedback to settle. Use Retry saving when a field reports a failure.
Publish the draft - Select Publish and correct any visible title, summary, body, or access problem. Successful publication releases the article and its feed post together.
Verify discovery - Open Apps, then Q&A immediately after Wiki. Keep the appropriate activity or subspace selected and find the question in the Q&A-only feed.

The same question can also appear in the destination's ordinary feed. The Q&A app filters the feed to Q&A posts while retaining its normal area selector and browsing behavior.

Read the Feed Preview

Before opening the question, inspect what the feed card tells contributors.

Check the question score - The compact voting control belongs to the question, not to the article's standard emoji reactions.
Review the answer slices - The card shows up to three top-ranked answers. A remaining-answer label indicates that more responses are available.
Open the complete question - Select the article title to read the full article and enter Q&A discussion.

Feed answer slices are ranked by score. They are previews, so open the article before judging a response that is clipped on the card.

Post and Manage an Answer

Answers use a rich-text editor and appear below the question discussion.

Check contribution access - The contributor must be signed in, joined, able to access the area, and allowed to add comments there.
Write in Your answer - Use formatting when it makes the explanation clearer. Keep the response focused on the question and include links or structured reasoning when useful.
Post the response - Select Post answer. After the accepted save, the editor clears and the answer appears in the score-ranked list.
Correct your own answer - Open Answer options, choose Edit, revise the response, then select Save.
Delete only when intended - Choose Delete from your answer options and confirm. Deleting an answer also removes its votes and direct comments.

If the answer does not appear, read the error shown on that Q&A surface and use Refresh or Retry when offered. Do not resubmit repeatedly while a save is still in progress.

Vote on the Question and Answers

Voting uses the same toggle behavior for the question and each answer.

Add an upvote - Select the up arrow when the question or answer is useful.
Add a downvote - Select the down arrow when the contribution should rank lower.
Remove your vote - Select your active arrow again.
Change direction - Select the opposite arrow when you want to replace your current vote.
Watch the ranking - Confirm that the score updates. Answer order can change because higher scores appear first.

Voting requires the destination's add-reactions access. Someone who can read or answer may still lack permission to vote if their role separates those actions.

Add a Direct Comment

Use direct comments for a brief clarification tied to exactly one question or answer.

Choose the target - Select the comment control beside the question or beside the answer you want to address.
Write the comment - Enter non-empty text in Add a direct comment. The counter must remain at or below 500/500.
Submit it - Select Comment. The message appears in the linear list beneath that target.
Manage your own comment - Use Comment options to edit or delete a comment you wrote.

The vote and comment controls belong to this answer; the comment is ready to submit but has not changed the fixture.

Direct Q&A comments do not nest. When the conversation should become a larger section-focused thread, use the article's standard comments instead. See Discussions and Reactions for that workflow.

Start From Report Issue

Quick Help can start the same Q&A creation flow for a support request.

Open Quick Help - Use Read manual when guidance may already answer the question, or Report issue when you need to describe a problem.
Review the support prompt - Explain what happened and what you expected. Include a screenshot only when it helps and contains no sensitive information.
Select Report Issue - Continue into article creation with Q&A already selected, then complete any sign-in, destination, membership, and permission checks.
Publish the support question - Write and review it like any other Q&A article, then publish it to the configured support destination.

Report Issue confirms the support handoff before the standard Q&A draft flow begins.

This support path is separate from content moderation. To flag an existing post or article against a rule, follow Report a Post or Article.

Resolve Common Blocks

If Q&A is missing from Apps - Make sure the Apps menu is open in a space context and look immediately after Wiki.
If the Q&A feed looks empty - Check the selected space area. The Q&A view filters out ordinary posts and still respects protected-area access.
If you cannot create the draft - Sign in, join the destination space, and confirm that your role can create posts there.
If you cannot answer or comment - Confirm sign-in, membership, area access, and permission to add comments.
If voting is unavailable - Confirm sign-in, membership, area access, and permission to add reactions.
If a direct comment will not submit - Remove whitespace-only content or shorten it to no more than 500 characters.
