Use reactions and raised hands to take part without interrupting, invitations to bring eligible people into the room, and participant menus for profiles or room actions. What you can do depends on the room and your role.
Invite The People Who Belong In The Call
Open the meeting's invitation picker, search by name or handle, and select recipients. Selected people appear as removable chips; Invite To Call sends the selection and closes the picker after success.
The list contains eligible space members for an activity room, or conversation participants for a direct-message call. It leaves out you and people already in the room. An invitation helps someone find the call; it does not grant access.
The selection chip and enabled Invite To Call action make the invitation's recipients explicit before anything is sent.
The recipient gets a compact bar with Join meeting and a dismiss option. Accepting joins the current room if it is still available. If someone cannot be found, check the search, current participant list, and their activity or conversation access.
Reactions For A Quick Response
Choose an emoji to send a brief stage reaction. It disappears automatically, making it useful for agreement or appreciation without leaving a lasting queue. Activity meetings can also use the space's custom emoji configured for chat.
Raised Hands For Turn-Taking
Raise your hand when you want a turn to speak. The queue shows the order in which participants raised their hands, and you can lower your own hand when finished.
A hand does not unmute you or reserve the stage. An unlowered hand expires after five minutes, and a departing participant's request does not stay in the active queue.
Give A Participant An Award
In an activity meeting, open another participant's menu and choose Give award when available. Awards provide quick appreciation with a larger celebration than an emoji reaction.
Choose the Award and quantity in its dialog. If the participant leaves before you finish, return to the current participant list rather than treating the earlier menu as confirmation that they are still eligible. See Awards for the wider recognition system.
Manage An Activity Room
The space owner and members with chat-management permission can act on another current participant. Open the participant menu from a feed or presence row, using the available context action or long press.
Mute mic is available when the target's microphone is on. It turns that microphone off; it is not a permanent speaking restriction. Kick from meeting removes the person from this room. It does not remove them from the space or change their roles or activity access.
The menu adapts to room permission and current participant state: this muted target can be recognized or removed, but does not need another mute action.
These controls do not apply to direct-message calls or to yourself. A menu may omit Mute mic because the person is already muted, or omit management actions because your account lacks permission. Use the space membership guidance for decisions that need to affect access beyond the current call.
Common Questions
Why does another person see different participant actions?
Menus reflect the room type, permissions, and participant state. Everyone need not see the same management options.
Does a meeting invitation include the conversation history?
It joins a call within an existing activity or conversation. It does not change who belongs to that conversation or its access rules.
Can I mute myself here?
Use your own microphone control in the call bar or picture-in-picture. Participant management is for authorized actions on someone else.
What should I do if an action fails?
Check that you and the target are still in the room, then use the current menu. If the room has ended or access changed, the previous action is no longer applicable.
For a practical room-hosting flow, follow Invite and manage the room.
