Keep useful language from an article close to its original context. Lexi can collect selected text, hold it in a personal inbox, and return you to the source when you want to understand it again.
Enable The Optional Tool
Open Account settings → User preferences → Manage Tools Slim Bar and enable Lexi. This shortcut is off by default. Enabling it adds the personal Lexi tools panel; opening the full Lexi app from Apps is a separate action.
The panel brings together favorite collections, a link to Personal library, and Practice and Articles views. Use it to study beside the content you are reading.
Capture, Then Complete
Select a word, expression, or sentence in an article and choose Add to Lexi. A longer selection may become several sentence entries. Captures retain a connection to their source article and go into your personal material, even if you have also been studying a shared collection.
Capturing does not translate the text. In the panel's Articles view, add the missing English translation and choose Add to practice. The completed entry can then supply practice questions. You can also find unfinished entries through Inbox in your personal Study view.
For other language pairs or more detailed changes, use the entry editor in the personal library and check its prompt and answer language codes.
Keep The Context
See article opens the source and asks the article view to highlight the captured text. Hovering a capture emphasizes matching text in the article. An entry can retain more than one source article, with a separate source link for each.
If the source text has changed, the original excerpt may no longer match the article exactly. The source link still helps you return to the surrounding material when you have access to it.
Practice Beside Your Reading
The panel's Practice view uses personal entries. Favorite collections remain shortcuts to their own collection workspaces; they do not join this practice bank.
Opening the full Lexi app or hiding the tools panel stops a second panel quiz from running alongside it. Choose the workspace that fits the moment: a compact practice session beside an article, or the full app for searching, organizing, and reviewing your progress.
Common Questions
Will people reading the same article see my captured vocabulary?
The captures belong to your personal library. Adding them does not edit the article or add them to a shared collection.
Why does a captured sentence not appear in practice?
Check that it has a saved translation and is not excluded. Also clear practice flags or status restrictions that might leave it out.
For the complete flow, follow Capture and learn from an article.
