This walkthrough builds a practical onboarding layer for a Space. You will add local rules, maintain useful links, select current priorities with Space Pins, and check that an ordinary member can understand what to do next.

Decide What Each Surface Should Say

Use each part for one kind of guidance:

Rules define the local standards members should follow.

Space Pins direct attention toward current published work.

About and the linked article explain the enduring purpose and contribution path.

•

Expo showcases selected work that represents the community over time.

Avoid repeating the same introduction everywhere. A member should be able to move from orientation, to expectations, to a useful action without reading several copies of the same text.

Add Clear Space Rules

You need to be the owner or have effective rule-management access.

•

Open Space Settings - Choose Rules from the administration navigation.

•

Separate the two rule sets - Review the read-only platform rules for the baseline, then work in the editable Space rules panel for local expectations.

•

Create a rule - Give it a short, recognizable name and an optional description that explains the boundary without writing a miniature legal code.

•

Check it in the panel - Return to the Space information panel and expand the Space rules section. The new rule should appear for readers.

•

Refine or remove it - Edit a rule when the expectation changes, or delete it when it no longer serves the community.

A Space can have up to 20 active rules. The add action disappears at the limit. Treat the cap as an invitation to consolidate overlapping rules, not a reason to compress several unrelated standards into one vague sentence.

The member-facing panel verifies the Space's local standards without opening the editable Rules administration surface.

Maintain Useful External Links

The verified link-management path belongs to the Space owner.

Open the contribution or About tool - Scroll to the Links section in the Space information panel.

•

Select Add link - Enter a recognizable name, a valid URL, and a short description of what members will find there.

•

Open the saved card - Confirm the destination and explanation before expecting other members to rely on it.

•

Edit in place - Update the name, URL, or description when the destination changes.

•

Remove stale links - Delete resources that are no longer maintained or safe to recommend.

Readers can expand link details and open destinations, while the owner sees the editing controls. The Space can keep up to 20 links; at the limit, remove one before adding another.

Pin Work That Needs Attention

Space Pins currently support published posts and articles. Do not use them for private Subspace or Activity content, because current previews cannot guarantee that the private source title and thumbnail stay hidden from the shared Space panel.

Open an eligible source menu - Find the published post or article that deserves current attention.

•

Choose the pin action - Add it to the current Space. The action is disabled when the item is already pinned.

•

Open the Space panel - Confirm that the new compact card appears at the start of the guidance surface and opens the original item.

•

Set the priority order - Drag cards on desktop or use the mobile long-press handle. Put the clearest current contribution opportunity first.

•

Check source updates - Normal title and supported preview-image changes should flow into the pinned card without creating a new copy.

•

Unpin completed guidance - Use the source menu or the owner cleanup action in the panel. Removing a pin does not delete the post or article.

The panel restores its prior order if a reorder cannot be saved. If a removed item later needs attention again, verify that it appears correctly after re-adding before relying on it.

Choose A Content License

The Space owner can select a license from the About summary when the license control is available.

Open the license selector - Review the choices from more open reuse toward more restrictive conditions.

•

Compare the conditions - Pay attention to attribution, commercial use, derivative work, and share-alike requirements.

•

Confirm the selection - Return to the About summary and verify that the chosen license remains visible.

The license explains how Space content may be reused. It does not replace author attribution, privacy, or permissions, and it does not make private content public.

Review As A Member

Leave the administration view and read the Space as someone arriving for the first time.

•

Open About - Confirm that the purpose is concise and that deeper context has a clear destination.

•

Open the Space panel - The first pin should suggest a useful action, rules should be readable, and links should explain their destinations.

•

Open a pinned item - Verify that it is published, accessible, and still relevant.

•

Expand the rule descriptions - Check that a member can understand the expectation before contributing.

•

Open every external link - Confirm that it reaches the intended maintained destination.

•

Check listed staff - Visible identity signals should match how the Space wants members to find guidance, while actual authority remains configured through Roles.

Keep Guidance Healthy

Review the panel whenever a major project ends, a link changes, or a recurring moderation decision reveals an unclear rule. Pins should change more often than About copy; rules and licenses should change only after deliberate review.

Common Problems

The rule add action is missing. You may lack rule-management access, or the Space may already have 20 active rules.

I cannot edit Links. The current verified management path is owner-only. Other members can read and open the cards.

The pin action is missing. Confirm that the source is a published post or article and that you have the required Space-management access.

The item is already pinned. The add action is disabled to prevent duplicates. Reorder the existing card or use the unpin action instead.

A private item would be useful to insiders. Do not pin it to the shared Space panel. Link to it from protected content inside the same private area instead.

The Space needs a portfolio rather than a current priority list. Curate Expo. Space Pins are deliberately small and action-oriented.

Result

The Space now offers a clear public path from standards and useful resources to current work. Members can understand the local expectations, open maintained destinations, and act on the priorities chosen by the people guiding the community.
