Visual Space manual, Docs, Create And Publish From Documents
Documents supports two ways to begin publishable work. You can create an Article, Event, Retrospective, or Whiteboard from `New`, or you can choose `Publish` on an existing upload to make a separate article-style draft around it. Both paths keep unfinished work private to its author until publication. Choose the first path when the work should begin in a Visual Space editor or collaborative app. Choose the second when you already have a source file that should remain available in its original fo
Start a new article or supported app file from Documents, or give an existing upload a separate published article. In both cases, begin with the destination and finish by opening the result as a reader would.
Choose The Destination
•
Open the intended space area - Enter Documents where the work belongs. Open a folder when the new document should start inside it.
•
Check the audience - Publication does not override private-area access. Choose a location that already serves the intended readers.
•
Use an active area - Archived activities do not accept this creation or publishing flow.
For personal work, choose the Docs button in My Docs first. Browsing the personal panel alone leaves the community workspace active.
Start A New App File
•
Open New - Choose Article, Event, Retrospectives, or Whiteboard according to the result you need.
•
Meet the entry requirements - Sign in for Article; Event and Retrospectives require coordinator eligibility. Whiteboard depends on the space's Whiteboard offering.
•
Prepare the content - Continue in the editor or workspace provided by the chosen app. Give the draft a useful title and complete the content that readers or participants need.
The New menu keeps folder creation, uploads, and supported app documents together.
An ordinary article draft opens its editor; supported linked app documents open their own workspace. Your unpublished draft is not a normal published item for other members browsing Documents. Use the specific app's guide for collaboration or invitations.
Or Present An Existing Upload
•
Open the uploaded item's menu - Choose Publish to create an article draft and open Publish Document.
•
Write the introduction - Explain what the file contains and what a reader should do next. Add the context that a filename alone cannot provide.
•
Inspect the draft - Do not assume the original file's full formatting, tables, or embedded media have been converted. Prepare the article content deliberately.
The original upload remains a separate library item. Publishing it as an article does not replace its downloadable file or connect their move and delete actions.
Review And Publish
•
Review the title and content - Check links, media, and any app-specific details that affect the reader's task.
•
Complete the publication flow - Use the editor's publication action when the document is ready. If you leave it unfinished, reopen the draft from Documents to continue.
•
Open the published result - An ordinary published article should open in its reading view. An app file should open in its appropriate experience.
•
Check the placement - Confirm the result is discoverable in the intended Documents area. If you published an upload, distinguish the source file from the new article.
People still need access to the owning space area. A public-looking article link does not grant entry to a private activity.
Help Readers Find The Finished Work
Share the document in the relevant conversation with a short explanation. If you have the required space permission, consider Expo for eligible published work or Wiki for a durable published article.
If the item still opens as an ordinary draft, finish its publishing flow. If you cannot start creation, review your eligibility and whether the destination activity is archived. If the result appears beside the original upload, that is expected: App Files and Publishing explains their separate purposes.
