Visual Space manual, Live Apps, Find Create And Open Live App Files

Use this walkthrough to move from a space area into the right Live App, find or create an item, and confirm both access and persistence before you begin substantial work. You will reach the editor with a clear expectation of what can return after you leave.

Open an existing Live App file, or create one in the right place, then confirm that you can return to your work. This guide covers the shared browsing journey; each app's guide explains its editor and save behavior.

Choose The Location First

Files belong to a space area or a personal workspace. Start where the work should live, especially when other people will need access.

Open the space - Choose the community, subspace, or activity that owns the project. Check that you have reached the intended area before creating anything.

Open Apps - Choose the available app that matches your task, such as Canvas, Poly, Pixels, Stage, Storyboard, Whiteboard, Retros, or Lexi.

Check the explorer - Confirm the current area, then open the folder that contains the work. Use the visible navigation to return to its parent when needed.

If the explorer shows a chevron beside the space name, open it to choose another joined community or Personal Space while keeping the same app. The destination opens at its root, so choose the required area and folder again. This switch changes where you browse; it does not move a file. It is not offered inside an opened editor.

An app marked Coming Soon cannot be opened yet. Blueprints, Layouts, Frames, and MathPad are currently in that group; use an available workspace for new work.


Choose an available workspace, or use the My Docs shortcuts to open your personal work.

Find An Existing File

The explorer separates browsing from editing. You can check names, locations, and available document actions before opening the workspace.

Look in the right folder - Browse the selected area and its folders. An empty app view may mean you are in the wrong area or have chosen a different file type.

Open the item - Select the file you need. Confirm its title after the editor opens, especially when similarly named projects exist in several areas.

Review the saved work - Wait for the document to load before editing. If the app reports an access or loading problem, resolve that message before starting changes.

A shared link is another way to reach a file. The link keeps the file's existing permissions: it does not let someone bypass membership or private-area access.

Create A File You Can Find Again

Creation requirements vary by app and area. Some workspaces require app access, an eligible space role, or both. Follow the requirement shown by the app rather than assuming that being able to read a file also allows you to create one.

Choose the new-file action - Use the creation action in the app's explorer and provide the title or initial options it requests.

Resolve an access prompt - Check the named app or role requirement. If the selected area is wrong, return to the correct area before trying again.

Check the new workspace - Confirm the title and location before developing the work. A meaningful name makes the file easier to recognize in Documents and shared links.

Creating a file does not automatically publish it as a feed post. Use the app's supported publishing workflow later if you want to publish the result.

Check Saving Before You Leave

Save and recovery behavior differs between editors. Read the relevant app guide before substantial work so you know how to confirm a save and recover interrupted changes.

Watch the save state - After editing, allow the app to finish saving. If it shows pending changes or a failure, keep the document open and follow its recovery guidance.

Keep the right kind of copy - Use a native project download when the app supports it and you need editable content. An exported picture is useful for sharing, but it is not a replacement for layers or scene objects.

Reopen the saved file - Return through the owning area's explorer and confirm that the expected saved work appears. This gives you a clear checkpoint before beginning a larger project.

Do not use another person's pointer or a live preview as the saving checkpoint. Those show activity; the app's accepted save determines what can be reopened.

Continue From The Result

You should now have the intended file open in the correct workspace, with its location and access clear.

Use Documents to organize shared files and folders.

Use My Docs to keep personal files or independent copies of supported shared work.

Return to Live Apps to choose the app-specific guide for your first project.

If a file does not appear where expected, check the selected area and folder, the app you opened, and your access. If your edits remain pending, resolve that save state before navigating away.
