Keep an editable Pixels project and prepare a finished image or exchange file without confusing the two outcomes.
Confirm Where The Work Lives
•Identify the session - A document created in the Pixels explorer belongs to its space. A file opened through Open or Import is a local editing session.
•Finish the current edit - Complete the stroke, transform, or smart-object contents edit before saving.
•Save the working version - Choose More > Save. For a shared document, wait for saved feedback. For local work, complete the layered-project download.
If saving reports an error or recovery state, resolve that state before assuming the work is available elsewhere. The saving guide explains retained sessions and retry choices.
Keep A Separate Master
•Download the project - Choose More > Save as Layered Project and keep the .vspixels file somewhere you can find it.
•Use a recognizable name - Distinguish the editable master from final images and any copies prepared for another editor.
This project keeps layers and animation. A flattened image does not provide the same route back to editing.
Prepare The Output
•Select the intended frame - For animated work, choose the artwork you want in the still export.
•Choose the format - Open More > Export As. Use PNG for transparency, JPEG or WebP for a flattened image where appropriate, or PSD for supported raster-layer exchange.
•Check the downloaded result - Inspect the dimensions, visible edges, background, and overall color. When exchanging a PSD or SVG, also check what remains editable in the receiving application.
A mixed-artwork SVG may contain an embedded image, and a PSD does not reproduce every Pixels adjustment as a live effect. Keep the Pixels master even when the exchange file looks correct.
Reopen When You Need To Continue
Return to the shared document through its explorer or link. For a downloaded project, choose More > Open and select the .vspixels file; continue saving that local work as a project.
