Stage separates exploring a scene from saving a deliberate viewpoint. Your regular User camera is for working; named camera objects preserve compositions you want to return to or render.
Explore Without Rearranging The Scene
Use orbit, pan and zoom to inspect the layout. Standard front, side and top views help judge alignment, while perspective gives a natural sense of depth. Orthographic projection removes perspective size changes and is useful for comparing dimensions and positions.
The Camera controls also provide eye-level walkthrough navigation. This changes how you move through the scene; it does not run authored triggers or simulate movement paths.
When the scene has focus, W, A, S and D navigate, the wheel changes distance, and Space with dragging temporarily pans. Outside an active creation tool, Q centers a selection; with no selection it uses the point under the pointer or returns to the grid when no point is available.
Read The Same Scene In Different Ways
Scene layers, grid, object titles and viewport shadows can be switched locally. They help you inspect the work without changing the objects' saved visibility.
Save A Composition
Choose Camera from the Render menu, arrange the view and use Add camera. The new camera captures that pose and becomes an ordinary named scene object. Inspector offers perspective or orthographic projection, frame proportions, field of view and clipping controls; orthographic cameras also have a view-height control.
The safe frame marks the output boundary. The surrounding scene remains visible outside it so you can see what sits just beyond the crop. Opening or resizing a panel changes the preview's displayed size, not the saved camera's proportions.
The camera dropdown switches between named cameras and User camera. Selecting a named camera previews its frame. Returning to User camera restores the regular view retained before that preview.
Know When Navigation Edits The Camera
Lock to camera makes navigation change the saved camera. Use it when refining a composition, then turn it off before exploring freely. With the lock off, navigation can leave the preview without moving the camera object.
Camera objects can be selected through Structure, moved, rotated, duplicated and deleted like other scene objects. Their saved pose and lens settings travel with the document; the camera currently selected for viewing and its lock state are local to the open editor.
Common Questions
Why does my scene look different in Solid mode?
Solid is an inspection view with its own colors and lighting. Return to Material or Rendered to inspect authored appearance.
Will camera icons appear in a camera render?
No. Authored-camera captures exclude camera helpers and editing controls.
How do I get back to a useful view?
Use Reset in the Camera controls. It can restore a chosen saved camera, the standard view or the world origin. Selecting a reset target alone does not move the view; Reset performs that action.
Continue with save a camera and render an image.
