Poly is an early 3D scene editor for shaping and inspecting ideas inside Visual Space. This first version focuses on approachable local editing in a dedicated workspace.
Start A Scene
•
Clean starting point - Every new draft opens empty, with no sample objects, lights, cameras, selection, or editing history.
•
Focused workspace - The 3D viewport takes center stage. The Scene tree, Inspector, Materials, Assets, History, and camera tools remain close by.
•
Adaptive controls - Desktop users get full tool rails and panels. Phones and tablets use compact drawers for inspection and lighter edits.
Build And Edit
•
Scene building - Users can add cubes, spheres, planes, teapots, lights, and cameras from the Assets panel or quick actions.
•
Direct transforms - Users can move, rotate, and scale unlocked objects with viewport handles, snapping, axis constraints, or exact values.
•
Multi-object work - Users can extend, toggle, or box-select objects, then transform or group them while preserving their relative positions.
•
Scene organization - The Scene tree supports nested groups, visibility, and locking. Copy, cut, paste, duplication, and deletion help users reshape the hierarchy.
•
Quick duplication - Holding Alt or Option while starting a move duplicates one object and positions the copy as a single action.
•
Push Pull - Users can push or pull supported cube and plane faces by dragging or entering an exact distance.
•
Material controls - Built-in material presets provide quick color choices, with roughness and metallic adjustments for supported shapes.
•
Local history - Undo and redo cover creation, transforms, hierarchy changes, and materials. They also cover visibility, locks, imports, and supported modeling edits.
Explore The View
•
Viewport selection - Users can select visible supported shapes directly in the 3D view, with the Scene tree and Inspector staying in sync.
•
Camera navigation - Orbit, pan, zoom, and free look support open exploration. Focus, fit, and reset help users inspect the whole scene or a selection.
•
Standard views - Front, left, right, and top presets sit alongside perspective and orthographic projection choices.
•
Display modes - Wireframe, solid, material, and rendered preview offer different ways to inspect a scene without changing its objects or hierarchy.
•
GPU-backed scenes - Supported scene shapes stay on the GPU-backed 3D path in every display mode. Guides and editing handles remain separate overlays.
•
Honest recovery - If the 3D path is unavailable, Poly shows a clear retry or error state instead of displaying substitute scene shapes.
Import And Export
•
Local imports - Users can add valid GLB 2.0 files up to 50 MB or GLTF 2.0 files with all data embedded.
•
Clear validation - Empty, oversized, malformed, and unsupported files are rejected with an explanation. GLTF files that need separate sidecar resources are not accepted yet.
•
Local export - Users can download supported visible shapes and groups as GLTF, including hierarchy, transforms, and basic materials.
•
Export summary - Poly reports how many scene items were exported and how many unsupported items were skipped.
Current Limits
•
Session-only drafts - New scenes and editing history last only for the current app session. They are not saved across refreshes, devices, or later visits.
•
No shared editing yet - Poly does not yet support meeting launch, live multi-user editing, collaborator presence, or shared scene history.
•
Imported references only - Imported GLB and GLTF files appear as local scene references, but their full mesh content is not yet shown in the editable viewport.
•
Partial export - Lights, cameras, imported references, hidden objects, and other unsupported content are skipped when exporting.
•
Early modeling scope - Face, edge, and vertex modes show the current editing context, but broad mesh editing is not available. Push Pull is limited to supported flat faces.
•
File handoff pending - Poly scenes can open from Poly's own explorer, but linked Poly files do not yet open from general document views.
•
Rename pending - Object renaming is shown as unavailable instead of changing a name that cannot yet be saved reliably.
