Choose the Discovery Placement
Expo and Space Pins both improve discovery, but they serve different purposes.
•
Choose Expo for a showcase - Add work that represents the space well or deserves an editorial spotlight. Readers find it in the Expo for the relevant space area.
•
Choose a Space Pin for quick access - Pin current priorities, reference material, or an article that members may need repeatedly. Readers find it in the space's pins panel.
You can use either placement or both. The article and its feed post are two views of the same published work, so curation does not create another copy or move the article to a new area.
Check the Article and Your Access
Before changing a placement, make sure the article is ready and that you are acting in the right space context.
•
Confirm it is published - Open the intended article or its feed post and make sure it is not a draft. Draft menus do not offer Expo or Space Pin controls.

Check the destination - Verify the title, author, and owning space area so that you do not feature a similarly named article from another context.
•
Use the role that matches the surface - The space owner manages Expo from the article menu. A maintainer with Expo permission manages Expo from the post menu. Space maintainers manage Space Pins from either published surface when the control is available.

Respect the existing audience - Curation does not widen access. If the article belongs to a protected area, only people who can already access that area can discover or open it through Expo or a Space Pin.
If an expected control is absent, first recheck the article's published state, then confirm your role and Expo permission for the surface you are using.
Add the Article to Expo
Use the article menu when you are the space owner, or use the linked feed post when you are a maintainer with Expo permission.

Open the published surface - Go to the full article page or locate its post in the feed for the intended area.
•
Open the item menu - Use the article menu on the reading page or the post menu on the feed card.
•
Choose Add To Expo - Select the action and allow the menu to close.
•
Confirm the menu state - Reopen the same menu. It should now offer Remove From Expo, showing that the work is part of the showcase.

Verify Expo - Open Expo for the area where the article belongs and find its title or preview. Work curated from an activity can also appear through the parent hierarchy, but it remains owned by its original area.
The Expo placement is an editorial signal only. The article's content, author, publication state, and access boundary remain unchanged.
The menu switches to removal actions when the published article is already featured and pinned.
Expo presents selected work as a scoped showcase for the current space.
Pin the Article to the Space
A Space Pin is useful when members need a direct route to the article from the space, even when it is not intended as showcase material.
•
Open the published article or post - Confirm once more that you are working in the intended space and that you have maintainer access there.
•
Open the item menu - Choose Space Pin to reveal the placement actions.
•
Choose Pin To Space - The pin action is available when the article is not already pinned. After it succeeds, Unpin From Space becomes the available removal action.
•
Verify the shortcut - Open the space panel and find the article in the pins panel. Open the card if you want to confirm that it leads back to the intended published article.
A pin belongs to the space-level discovery surface. It does not change where the article was published or make protected-area content available to additional members.
Space Pins appear first in the Contributing panel as direct routes to the original published work.
Remove a Placement Without Removing the Article
Reverse only the placement that is no longer useful. There is no need to delete or unpublish the underlying work.
•
Remove the Expo placement - Return to the article or post menu and choose Remove From Expo. Reopen the menu to confirm that Add To Expo is available again, then check that the item no longer appears in the relevant Expo view.

Remove the Space Pin - Open Space Pin from the article or post menu and choose Unpin From Space. Confirm that the article card has left the space's pins panel.
•
Check the original work - Return to the article or its ordinary feed location. It should remain published and available to the same permitted audience.
Avoid Delete when your goal is only to clear a featured placement. Deletion affects the shared article and post, while removing from Expo or unpinning changes discovery only.
If the Placement Does Not Look Right
•
The curation action is missing - Confirm that the item is published and that you are using the correct role and surface: space owner on the article page, a maintainer with Expo permission on the post, or a space maintainer for pinning.

The action has not switched - Close the menu, allow the update a moment to complete, and reopen it before repeating the action.
•
You cannot find the Expo item - Return to the article's owning area and open that area's Expo. Check the title and context rather than relying only on its thumbnail.
•
You cannot find the pin - Open the space panel for the owning space and check its pins panel. A pin does not relocate the article into another area.
•
Another reader cannot open it - Confirm that the reader has access to the article's protected area. Featuring or pinning never grants that access.
