Build a poster from a photograph, a headline, and a painted accent, then download a finished picture while keeping the Canvas editable. Start with a space-owned Canvas you can edit; [create one first](/s/visual-space/article/DHDHHtn/create-save-and-reopen-canvas-artwork) if needed.

Build a poster from a photograph, a headline, and a painted accent, then download a finished picture while keeping the Canvas editable. Start with a space-owned Canvas you can edit; create one first if needed.

Place the Main Image

•
Choose an editable target - Open Layers and select an unlocked layer. Avoid the protected background when placing content.
•
Place a space image - Open More > Place > Image as Layer..., browse to the image, and select it. Wait for the picture to appear as a new layer.
•
Arrange the image - Use Move and the transform handles to position it within the poster. Give the layer a useful name such as Main photograph.

If the image is on your device, paste or drop it into the editor instead of opening it as a separate document. That route can preserve the source as a Smart Object. Open and Import switch to a local document; they do not place the file into this shared poster.

Make the Message Readable

•
Add the headline - Select Text, place a text layer, and enter the main wording through Character. Choose the font, size, weight, and color around the intended reading distance.
•
Set the paragraph - Use Paragraph for alignment and line spacing. Keep a long title within its text bounds, then inspect the whole poster at Fit on Screen.
•
Separate text from the picture - Move the headline above the photograph in Layers. If the picture is busy, add a separate shape or editable color fill behind the words and adjust its opacity.

Keep the headline as text so dates, names, and wording can still change after review.

Add One Deliberate Accent

•
Create a paint layer - Add and name a raster layer for the accent. Select Brush and choose a color from the artwork or the foreground picker.
•
Paint the accent - Draw a short underline, corner mark, or other simple detail. Undo and repeat if it distracts from the title.
•
Organize the stack - Rename the remaining layers and lock parts that are finished. Group eligible related layers if the stack is becoming hard to scan.

Check that the intended layers are visible. View aids and selection outlines are editing tools; they are not part of the finished picture.

Save and Deliver

•
Save the editable poster - Choose More > Save and wait for completion. Keep the layered Canvas for future changes.
•
Choose the image format - Open More > Export As. Use PNG for crisp graphics or transparency, JPEG for a flattened picture over white, or WebP when the destination supports it.
•
Check the download - Open the downloaded image and inspect the title, image placement, and edges at the intended size. A successful picture download does not replace checking the shared save.

For a portable editable copy, also download Layered Project... as .vscanvas. There is no need to flatten the Canvas before exporting a picture.

If you want a selective image treatment next, follow Mask and adjust an image. Import and export explains SVG and PSD fidelity when another editor is part of the handoff.
