Decide What Should Become An Article

Start in shared Activity Chat - Open the activity and topic that contain the message, or keep the oversized draft in that activity’s composer. Direct Messages are private and do not offer this publishing path.

Confirm publication access - You must be the space owner or have permission to create posts. This access controls both the message-menu action and the article option shown for an oversized draft.

Choose one self-contained idea - Publish an individual message when its explanation, proposal, finding, or update can become useful durable content. If you need to preserve the conclusion of an entire discussion, improve the connected topic summary instead; Create and Summarize a Topic covers that broader workflow.

Check the intended audience - An article can reach people beyond those following the live exchange. Remove private conversational details and confirm that every visual, link, and quoted detail is suitable for the article’s wider audience.
Publish as article creates article material from one message. It does not publish the topic summary as a post, replace that summary, or combine the surrounding replies into a new article.
Open The Prepared Article
For a message that is already in the feed:

Choose the source message - Find the contribution that contains the useful idea. Read the nearby replies first so you can recognize context that the message may need once it stands alone.
•
Open its message menu - Choose Publish as article. The action appears only in shared Activity Chat when your account has publication access.
•
Wait for the article editor - Visual Space prepares a new article draft and opens it with the source material ready for review.
The editor carries forward the message’s text or rich content, its original author credit, visual media such as images or video, and links. Generic file attachments are not transferred. If a PDF, document, spreadsheet, archive, or other file is essential, plan to add it to the article separately.
The shared-message menu exposes Publish as article without changing or removing the source contribution.
Hand Off An Oversized Draft
A Chat message can contain up to 3000 characters. When the composer reports that your draft is too long, eligible publishers can continue in the article editor instead of cutting a developed idea into several messages.
•
Review the over-limit indicator - Confirm that the text has genuinely become long-form material. If it is still a brief update, shorten it below the limit and send it in Chat.
•
Choose the publishing link - Use the article handoff offered by the indicator. It opens the same prepared editor used for a published message.
•
Keep the original draft as a fallback - Opening the editor does not clear the typed Activity Chat draft. If you close or cancel the article flow, the chat text remains available during the current app session.
Draft preservation protects the typed text, but it is not permanent storage. Finish the article or keep another copy before ending the session if the material would be difficult to recreate.
Review The Article Before Publishing
•
Add a clear title - Replace Enter Title with a title that tells readers what they will learn. A title is required, and it can contain up to 300 characters.
•
Make the message stand on its own - Add the background, decision, examples, or next action that readers outside the original topic need. Keep the useful source material, but remove chat-only shorthand and references such as “above” or “as we just said.”
•
Preserve the right credit - Confirm that the original message author is credited in the prepared article. Edit the surrounding explanation without presenting another person’s contribution as your own.

Inspect visuals and links - Check that transferred images or video support the article and that each link still leads to an appropriate destination. See Files, Links, and Previews for the attachment boundary.

Restore essential files separately - Generic files do not cross the handoff. Add any file the article cannot be understood without, or replace it with a suitable accessible link.
•
Review the audience once more - The article publishing process changes a moment from shared Activity Chat into durable content. Remove anything that should remain within the immediate conversation before you continue.
The prepared message may appear in the article’s opening content or longer body according to its length and visual media. Review the complete editor rather than assuming every part of the chat bubble will appear in one block.
Publish And Verify The Result

Resolve visible validation - Make sure the title is present, the transferred content remains meaningful, and no title or body character-limit warning is active.
•
Choose Publish Message - Visual Space saves pending article changes and publishes the prepared article.
•
Look for the confirmation - After the editor closes, look for Published as article. This is the success receipt, and it uses the article title in the confirmation when available.
•
Review the published result - Confirm that the title, source idea, author credit, visuals, and links read correctly as an article. The original message remains part of its Activity Chat discussion; the article is the durable result created from it.
Publication completes this single-message workflow. It does not turn the surrounding topic into a post. When the wider discussion also produced a useful conclusion, update its summary separately through Topics and Summaries.
A published result should present a clear title, credit, destination, summary, and ordinary reader actions in the feed.
If Something Blocks Publication
•
Publish as article is missing - Confirm that you are in shared Activity Chat, not a Direct Message, and that you are the space owner or have permission to create posts. The action remains hidden without that access.
•
The oversized draft offers only trimming - The article handoff is hidden when your account cannot publish. Shorten the draft below 3000 characters or ask someone with the required space access to help preserve the idea through an appropriate shared workflow.
•
The editor reports that it is unavailable - If you see The article editor could not be loaded. Close this window and try again., close the window and try Publish as article again. Chat cannot safely finish publication from that state.
•
A generic attachment is missing - This is expected for non-visual files. The handoff includes visual media and links, but generic files must be added to the article separately.
•
Publish Message does not complete - Add the required title and correct any title or body limit shown in the editor. Keep the transferred content in place, then choose Publish Message again after the validation clears.
