Articles turn an idea into a focused feed post and a richer reading experience without leaving its space. Writing, discussion, and related work stay connected from draft to publication.

Create And Publish

Private drafts - The article authoring and publishing workflow starts with a private draft. Authors can reopen it from the draft feed before sharing it with the space.
Start in context - Authors can create from a space or activity. The main feed first asks which joined space should own the article.
Clear access checks - Signed-out users are asked to sign in, while non-members are prompted to join. Archived activities and missing permissions prevent creation with clear feedback.
Purposeful summaries - Authors choose text, images, a link preview, or a poll for the focused summary shown in feeds.
Long-form writing - Article bodies support rich text, headings, lists, links, tables, and other structured content in a reader-like editing page.
Rich pasting - Formatted content from Markdown, HTML, Word, Google Docs, and spreadsheets can become editable article content.
Flexible images - Authors can pick, paste, or drop body images. Multiple images can form an album that opens in the shared lightbox.
Clear upload feedback - Image uploads show progress and explain failures or files that exceed the space limit. Protected-area media follows its access rules.
Reliable autosave - Titles, summaries, and bodies save automatically with visible status. A failed save keeps the latest edit and offers a retry.
Publish safeguards - Validation stays quiet while drafting, then explains missing or oversized content when the author tries to publish.
Synced feed posts - Publishing creates the full article and its feed post together. Later title and summary edits stay reflected in the post.

Chat handoff - Eligible members can turn a space-chat message into an editable article while keeping its text, links, and images.
Long message rescue - An oversized space-chat draft can move into the article editor without discarding the text already written.
Connected publishing - The same article tools support announcements, events, space pages, chat topics, and article live apps in meetings.

Read And Explore

Useful feed cards - Posts show the title, author, space, time, and chosen summary. Reactions and comment counts make each card easy to scan.
Relevant feeds - The main feed gathers posts from joined spaces. Space, activity, profile, and announcement views keep results focused on their context.
Complete reading page - Opening a post brings its summary, full body, author context, reactions, comments, and owning space into one place.
Article index - Readers can scan summary content and body headings, then jump directly to a section or its discussion.

Focused reading - Side panels fade during long reads and return when readers move toward navigation or reach the top.
Related content - Articles can surface related posts, articles, and web links so readers can continue exploring the subject.
Private-area access - Articles and their media in protected areas remain available only to people with access to that area.

Discuss And Respond

Focused discussions - Comment topics attach to a summary or body section, keeping each conversation close to the part it addresses.
Expandable threads - Readers can open or collapse discussions and load more comments without turning the article into one long thread.

Personal controls - Topic and comment authors can edit or delete their own contributions when permissions allow.
Emoji reactions - Permitted readers can add or remove whole-article reactions and see who reacted.
Awards - Permitted members can recognize an article or post with an award and browse the people who granted each one.
View Later - Signed-in readers can save published articles from either the feed or reading page and remove them when finished.
Article polls - Authors can publish a single-choice poll as the summary. Readers can vote in the feed or open the article for more context.
Poll results - Results show totals, percentages, the reader's choice, and a voter preview. Readers can change their vote or refresh the counts manually.

Curation And Safety

Expo and pins - Authorized space maintainers can feature published articles in Expo or pin them to the space for easier discovery.
Reporting - Members can report inappropriate posts. Space maintainers can see reported context and remove content when permitted.
Safe removal - Deleting an article also removes its linked post and clears related saved or pinned state where applicable.

Current Boundaries

One focused summary - Authors can switch summary formats while drafting, but only one manually authored summary is published with the post.
Whole-article reactions - Reactions currently apply to the article as a whole rather than selected passages.
Reading tools - Speed reading, extra help, reminders, text lens, and presenter controls are not generally available yet.
