This walkthrough reshapes a busy Activities panel without losing the work attached to it. You will prioritize Subspaces, move Activities into the right groups, archive inactive work, and verify the member-facing result.

Before Rearranging The Panel

You need the appropriate Subspace or Activity-management access. The visible taxonomy is shared by the Space, so these changes affect other members rather than creating a personal view. The Activities Panel guide explains how that structure keeps shared work in context.

Review the current structure before dragging anything. Decide which changes express a real difference:

Order answers what members should notice first within the same level.
Movement answers which Subspace owns an Activity.
Archiving answers whether an Activity still belongs in the active list.
Deletion answers whether the area itself should be removed.

Use the least disruptive choice that matches the situation. A completed project usually needs archiving, not deletion.

Record the public parent and row order before making any shared organizational change.

Reorder Subspaces

Open the Activities panel - Expand enough groups to understand the current map, but collapse unrelated groups when they make drag targets difficult to read.
Drag the Subspace group - On desktop, pick up the group from its draggable area. On a touch layout, use the dedicated long-press handle.
Drop it at the new priority - Place foundational or currently important groups earlier while keeping related groups near one another.
Use menu movement when preferred - Move up and Move down provide the same persistent ordering without a drag gesture.
Check the saved result - Navigate away and return to confirm that the shared order remains.

The first group is not automatically the most active or popular. It is the coordinator's chosen start to the Space map.

Reorder Activities Within A Subspace

Expand the parent Subspace - Make the full local order visible before moving the row.
Drag the Activity - Move it to the intended position inside the same group, or use Move up and Move down from its menu.
Watch the immediate preview - The panel updates before persistence finishes so the interaction feels direct.
Confirm the final order - If saving fails, Visual Space restores the previous confirmed arrangement. Try again after checking the connection and your access.

Order Activities around how members understand the work, not around incidental title spelling. A useful sequence might move onboarding and active coordination ahead of reference or maintenance contexts.

Move An Activity To Another Subspace

Choose the destination first - Confirm that the target Subspace genuinely describes the Activity and that you are allowed to manage the affected structure.
Drag across groups - Pick up the Activity and drop it into the destination Subspace. Keep the destination expanded when that makes the intended position clearer.
Place it among its new peers - The move changes both parent ownership and local ordering, so choose the final position rather than treating the new group as an unordered bucket.
Verify both groups - Check that the Activity disappeared from the original Subspace and appears once in the destination.
Open the Activity - Confirm that its Chat, posts, documents, Goals, Events, Meetings, and About context still belong to the same Activity after the move.

Moving changes organization, not the Activity's underlying purpose or history. Update the About summary when the old parent was part of its explanation.

Archive Inactive Activities

Open the Activity menu - Choose Archive when the work should leave the active list but remain available as history.
Confirm the normal panel - The Activity disappears from the active group after the state is saved.
Open the archive view - When archived Activities exist, use the panel's archive view to find them.
Review the preserved context - Eligible readers can still open the archived Activity and its existing work. New Goals cannot be created in an archived Activity.
Restore when work resumes - Choose Unarchive from the Activity menu to return it to the active structure.

Archiving is the normal housekeeping choice for finished, paused, or seasonally inactive work. It keeps the present readable without pretending the past never existed.

Check Access And Signals

After structural changes, review what an ordinary eligible member sees:

Private groups and Activities still display only to members with access.
Drafts remain creator-only until publication.
Update dots continue to roll from Activities into their parent Subspace and joined Space.
Participant and meeting signals remain attached to the Activity that owns them.
Collapsed groups can still reveal relevant update state without changing the saved hierarchy.

If a moved or restored Activity is missing for one person, check private membership before changing their Role. Entry and authority solve different problems.

Avoid Destructive Cleanup

Delete only when the Space should no longer retain the area itself. Deletion is not the ordinary way to finish work, hide it from the active view, or move it somewhere else.

If the menu offers deletion, pause and verify the exact target, its linked article, and the work scoped beneath it. The administration entries for deleting child areas are not the reliable management path; use the authorized Activity or Subspace menu action that identifies the current area.

Common Problems

The drag handle does not appear. You may lack the required management access, or the layout may expect a long press. Use the available Move up or Move down action when appropriate.

The row returned to its old position. Persistence likely failed. Visual Space restores the last confirmed order rather than leaving a false local arrangement.

I cannot archive an Activity even though I can edit it. Archiving requires broader Space-management access than some Activity editing actions.

The moved Activity is missing from the destination. Refresh the taxonomy, expand the target group, and check private access. The move should result in one row under the new parent, not a copy.

An archived Activity cannot accept a new Goal. That is expected. Unarchive it before creating new work there, or choose an active Activity.

Should I delete an empty Subspace? If it is truly unwanted and you have the verified menu action, deletion may be appropriate. If it represents a useful future grouping, keep it and improve its About context rather than removing it for visual tidiness alone.

Result

The Activities panel now reflects the Space's current priorities: groups and Activities are in a deliberate order, work sits under the right parent, and inactive history remains available without crowding the active map.
